WIN Presents Denise Brown

I was asked to do the PR for a Wichita Women's Initiative Network fundraiser that occurred on April 19-20th. WIN works with women survivors of domestic violence by providing work and educational opportunities that lead to financial and emotional independence. We began working on the event in late 2009. It has been a wonderful and interesting experience. We brought Denise Brown, sister of Nicole Brown Simpson to Wichita to speak about domestic violence. We partnered with a local television station, local radio and print media to promote the event. There was a VIP reception and a lecture at the WSU Metroplex. Denise visited WIN and spoke with the women survivors of domestic violence that are in the WIN program. It was a very successful fundraiser that increased community awareness about domestic violence and the work the WIN does here in Wichita. Working on the event and meeting so many wonderful volunteers was a very rewarding experience.
